CIGNA Rejects Anthem $53.8 Billion Merger Bid

Anthem Blue Cross/Blue Shield has offered to buy CIGNA Healthcare. In spite of a $53.8 Billion offer, which represents substantial premium to CIGNA shareholders, CIGNA has declined their offer.

Cigna declined Anthem's offer citing concerns with Anthem's lack of growth strategy as well as Anthem's troubles with a recent data breach in February.
