Stephen J. Donohue, Jr. RHU ® has been working in the insurance industry for over 20 years.
In 1992 Steve began his career with Oxford Health Plans as a sales representative in Brooklyn, NY. He was promoted to sales manager in 1994, responsible for new business development in the Long Island and NYC region. As a manager Steve worked with several large corporations including Keyspan, Brooklyn Union Gas, and Catholic Charities. Steve developed a specialized marketing program offering health insurance to many of the NY City area hospitals and nursing homes.
In 1996 Steve transferred to NH to help Oxford develop client, broker and provider relations for Oxford Health Plans with their New England expansion. While at Oxford, Steve was trained extensively in NH Health Insurance Laws, employee benefit education and enrollment, underwriting, product pricing, COBRA, HIPAA, claims processing, new product filing, employment laws, compliance and customer service. During Steve’s tenure, Oxford was the fastest growing health plan in the US, and a Fortune 100 company.
In 1997 Steve left Oxford to pursue a career as an independent insurance broker. Using his unique training, and experience as a health plan expert to his client’s advantage,
In 1998 Steve began his own firm, Atlantic Benefit Company, focusing on affordable group health insurance , dental, life and disability insurance and offering a portfolio of value added services to clientele.
Today, Atlantic Benefit Company is a thriving full service insurance agency located on Main St. in Nashua, NH. Atlantic Benefit Company’s team of dedicated employees serve hundreds of client with annual client retention in excess of 97%. Currently Steve Donohue, and his affiliated brokers are licensed in over 10 states and offer employee benefit insurance to employers along the Atlantic coast line. Steve has served on the broker advisory council for many insurers including Anthem, CIGNA and Harvard Pilgrim Healthcare.

Steve lives in Nashua with his wife Regis, and their three lovely daughters. Steve has served on the board of directors for the Peacock Players, a local youth theater company. He has also volunteered with Greater Nashua Child Care Centers, City of Nashua Basketball League and the Nashua Soup Kitchen and Shelter. For fun Steve plays in a 40 plus lacrosse league, and is a long distance runner completing the Mount Washington Road Race in 2007 and the NYC Marathon in 2011.
Steve earned the prestigious Registered Health Underwriter designation in 2007 and is certified to sell health insurance to businesses and individuals on the federal marketplaces (healthcare.gov). Steve is a graduate of Fairfield University.
