NH is one of the only states that does NOT require ALL drivers to buy car insurance. However, there are specific times when the NH DMV requires certain drivers buy NH Car insurance.
What happens in NH when the DMV requests an SR 22 or "proof of financial responsibility"?
NH Drivers can apply for insurance and once approved can receive an SR-22 from an insurance agent.
Simply stated, the NH SR-22 is a certificate that provides proof of car insurance.
There are several reasons why a driver may be ordered by NH DMV to buy auto insurance. The following convictions require filing proof of financial responsibility (SR-22):
How long does someone need a NH SR-22?
For most drivers SR22 is needed for 36 months, in some cases (2nd DUI) it can be a 5 year requirement.
Atlantic Insurance & Benefit Company in Nashua helps drivers with SR-22 Insurance and yes we have the much desired Pink Slips (written verification of insurance to provide to NH DMV to help you get or keep your license!)
We realize that there are a lot of good people who need an SR-22. We are often referred by attorneys to help their clients comply with the SR 22 requirement. No judgment- we are here to help.
There are 3 different kinds of SR-22 requirements:
1. The operator's certificate (most common)
2. The owner's certificate
3. The owner's/operator's certificate

Want to save money on your NH Car Insurance?
Progressive Insurance has introduced a new technology for NH drivers called Snap Shot that can help you save on your NH car insurance premiums. And you can try it BEFORE you decide to switch insurers.
NH Drivers can opt for the SnapShot Plug In device that monitors 3 things:
1. Hard Braking
2. Time of Day
3. # of Miles Driven
It is my opinion that we are at the beginning of a technology revolution in insurance. Often referred to as informatics or telematics. These plug in devices help drivers pay closer attention to their driving habits. MOST of our clients who take advantage of this optional program save money. Over time the car insurance industry will move toward "usage based insurance" meaning that you pay for only the insurance you need. Plus insurers can rely upon ACTUAL data about your driving to determine your auto insurance premiums.
The best part about the Snap Shot is that you can plug in and try the device BEFORE you decide to change insurers. This is a great way for you to see if Snap Shot and Progressive are right for you.
If you are in Nashua or the surrounding area and want a NH Progressive car insurance quote, or if you want to learn how SnapShot can help you reduce your NH auto insurance premiums please give us a call at 1-603-882-2909.

If you are looking to buy NH Dental Insurance in the non-group or individual market the healthcare.gov exchange is NOT the place where you will get the best value.
Here in NH there are several insurers that market to individuals. According the NH Insurance Department there are 12 insurers that sell dental insurance to individuals and families in NH. See full list of NH Dental insurers and their contact info here.
3 Reasons that I suggest buying NH dental insurance off the exchange:
1. More Choices - In NH, on the exchange there are only 5 dental plan designs listed in Hillsborough County. Off exchange Delta offers individuals 6 different dental plans and Ameritas offers 9 dental plan designs.
2. In NH Annual Dental Insurance Maximums are Lower on the Exchange. For adults on the exchange the highest annual maximums are $1000 per person, however Off exchange insurers offers plans that have $2000 annual maximums.
3. More Insurers- On exchange there are only 2 dental insurers that market- off the exchange there are 12 different companies that sell individual NH dental insurance.
Overview of NH Dental Insurance
When it comes to dental insurance coverage there are three common classifications that insurers use:
Most insurers will include Oral Exams, Cleanings, Cancer Screenings and x-rays. Fluoride treatments and sealants for children are often covered in this category.
For most insurers, this category covers fillings, extractions, and emergency or palliative care.
Expect to find more costly items covered under the MAJOR category. These services will include gum disease treatment (perio), root canal therapy (endo), crowns, dentures and denture repair.
Two popular dental insurers in NH are Northeast Delta Dental and Ameritas. They offer dental plans to individuals, employer groups and even the Medicare population. To get quotes for individual NH dental insurance plans click on links below:
